Housing Accommodations

The Office of Disability Services works in conjunction with Residence Life to coordinate necessary and approved housing accommodations. These accommodations may include

  • a ground floor room;
  • a single room;
  • an air-conditioned room;
  • a visual fire alarm;
  • a visual door signaler.

As soon as the decision is made to live on campus, the Housing Accommodations Request form should be completed and sent to the Office of Disability Services. It must be submitted with adequate time to review the request and supporting documentation of disability and for the Residence Life office to make room selections and accommodations; so it is important to address this early.

Students with disabilities file this form each year with their application to live on campus.

Air-conditioning and single rooms are limited and are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Meal Plan Accommodations

MacMurray College is committed to supporting students with medical dietary disabilities either permanent or temporary which require reasonable accommodations for equal access to the College's meal plan and/or dining facilities. The Meal Plan Accommodation Policy applies to all students.

As a residential college, MacMurray recognizes the importance of a positive living and learning experience for all students which includes a safe and healthy environment. In an effort to support the general health and welfare of our students, along with building a sense of community, all students living on campus are automatically enrolled in a meal plan.

In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, MacMurray College has established procedures to ensure that students with documented disabilities have access to reasonable dietary accommodations. Students who have special dietary needs as a result of a medical condition or other disability should contact the Office of Disability Services to request dining accommodations. The procedure is as follows:

  • Complete the online registration with ODS, making dining accommodation request known.
  • Obtain written documentation from medical professional.
  • Meet with ODS and Dining Services to discuss specific needs.
  • Trial of accommodations with follow up meetings and adjustments as needed.
  • Meal plan accommodations requests must be submitted for each academic year.

Every effort will be made to accommodate the specific dietary needs of the students. In the rare instance that reasonable dietary accommodations cannot be provided, the student is granted a waiver and is released from the meal plan contract.

Requests for meal plan accommodations may be submitted at any time. Full meal plan exemptions or refunds may be subject to deadlines set forth by Residence Life or the Student Accounts Office. Meal plan charges may be pro-rated based on when the student requests the accommodations during the semester. Students who need temporary meal plan accommodations are not required to open a file with the Office of Disability Services. They may request temporary accommodations by working directly with Dining Services and the Housing Office. Any student may work directly with Dining Services to request meal accommodations according to the needs of the student.
